Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Yesterday we ventured across the Metroplex to the Fort Worth Zoo. It was a tad cool and a little windy, but not bad enough to keep us away. Eli was very excited to see giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hippos, zebras (my favorite), all kinds of birds, chimps, gorillas, orangutans, snakes, lions, bears, tigers and tons of others that I am probably forgetting. Nick and I had a great time just following Eli around, seeing his excitement and amazement of the animals. Before we got married, Nick and I visited the zoo and had a great time, but seeing it through your kids' eyes is a much sweeter experience. When we were finally back in the warmth of our minivan, we asked Eli what his favorite part of the zoo was. "When the gorilla spit out his food and ate it," he giggled. Explanation: the big male gorilla was sitting right up next to the glass and would lay on his stomach, sit up, regurgitate his food into his hand and start to eat it. We watched as he did this several times and grossed everyone out that came by the exhibit. THAT is what my child remembers most about his trip to the zoo. ;) Oh, well, we still had a great time and hopefully made some other memories for him to one day look back on. Valentine's Day for the Boys

I just wanted to post a few pictures of the boys on Valentine's Day morning. Eli was very sick that weekend (104.5 fever, a rash all over his body, and a trip to the Urgent Care - which was a total waste, but that's another post all in itself), but he did finally make it to the breakfast table for his treats from mommy and daddy. Even though I wish Eli felt better, we got to spend a nice, quiet Valentine's Day with the people we love.

I just wanted to let the whole world know how lucky I am to have such a wonderful husband. He's sweet, caring, smart, funny, athletic, hard-working, patient, loving, and still smokin' hot! He makes me feel loved everyday, makes me laugh constantly, and is the best father to my children I could ever hope for. You're the best babe! I love you forever a lot, Nicholas Andrew.

We celebrated Valentine's Day early with dinner last weekend at Culpepper's. It was yummmmmmmy! It was so great to spend some quality alone time with each other. We don't do that often enough. Here's a pic of us after we finished dinner.


I also put together a little slideshow of Nick and I the past five or six years. I wanted to put all of the old school college pics on here, but none of those are on our computer. That was before the whole digital camera age. So, anyway, enjoy and have a great Valentine's Day.

Play time!

Not much new to report here at the Cecava house; just the usual chaos that comes with having two little boys. Eli's latest obsession is Scooby Doo. That is all he wants to watch on tv and has declared it as the theme for his birthday party next month. Sam is still my chubby, cuddly snuggle bear. He's jabbering up a storm and getting some new molars. I've also got him completely weaned from breastfeeding now. That whole process went a lot smoother and way quicker than I expected because my Sammy loves to eat. It's hard for me to accept that he's not my baby any longer, but a busy toddler. On the other hand, it gives me joy to see him thriving. Nick is still working hard at his job and then coming home to take care of us. He runs as much energy as he can out of the boys when he gets home, which makes mommy's evenings a lot easier and the boys' evenings a lot more fun. I'm great, too. The day to day care of the boys keeps me pretty busy. I feel like I spend most of my life in the kitchen, either cleaning it or feeding someone. Looking Forward

I am so looking forward to President Obama's inauguration tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a presidency that brings hope back to this country. I'm looking forward and trying not to dwell on my disgust for the past administration. That's finished and cannot be changed. I'm looking forward to having a positive attitude about my leader and hope he can get America back to where it needs to be. I'm looking forward to our country having a positive image across the world. I'm looking forward to a President that has the best interest of the working citizen at heart. I'm looking forward to my children's future and feel encouraged that they will inherit a country worth living in and a country to be proud of. Welcome President Obama! We've been waiting and praying for you!

Holiday in the Park

The Cecava family was fortunate enough to receive tickets to Six Flags Holiday in the Park this year, so we decided, one day before it ended, to take advantage of it. I think Nick and I were secretly dreading hauling the boys up there and hoping the guilt wouldn't get to us until after it was over. But it did and before we knew it, we were shelling out $15 to park (they should call it "Highway Robbery in the Park" if you ask me). Anyway, we knew we made the right decision the moment we got there and saw the excitement on Eli's face. It was priceless. While we were there, he got to see Scooby Doo, Sylvester, Tweety, Daffy Duck, and Taz. I was pleasantly surprised at all of the rides they had for kids his age. I thought we were limited to Looney Toon Town, but there were several rides throughout the park he was tall enough for. Nick and I took turns watching the kids while the other rode the Titan, so we even got a big kid ride in for the day. Poor Sam really couldn't do much of anything but ride in the stroller and people watch, which, luckily for us, is one of his favorite things to do. He'll be able to enjoy it more next year. The only disappointing part of the day was that Eli never got to see Buzz Bunny (Bugs Bunny). We scoured the park for him, but he must have had the day off. I have to say our Holiday in the Park experience was way better than I had anticipated - so much better that I promised Eli we'd go back next year.
